Two bakkies collide: three men injured
The critically injured man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for further care.
Three men were left injured on the morning of 5 September, when two bakkies collided head-on on the R24 between Krugersdorp and Rustenburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found the bakkies behind the crash barriers on the opposite sides of the road.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered one man seated inside one of the bakkies, and two in the second. The passenger in the second vehicle was found to be trapped, forcing rescue services to use specialised equipment to free him.

The paramedics found that one driver was in a critical condition while the second driver and passenger had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Paramedics stabilised the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions.
The critically injured man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention, while the remaining two were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
