Over 300 arrests by the police last week

The West Rand Police Cluster arrested 335 lawbreakers in one week.

West Rand police members secured 335 arrests during the past week.

These arrests emanate from numerous operations held around the cluster, such as the joint operation in Bekkersdal and Westonaria to conclude Women’s Month.

Police addressed domestic violence and sexual offences as many cases were reported after victims had been encouraged to come forward.

Numerous suspects were also arrested for drug offences.

In Krugersdorp, three suspects were arrested for the assault and murder of a man on Human Street.

Constable Gloria Maswanganye said other crimes that landed suspects behind bars included malicious damage to property, possession of drugs – which included dagga – housebreaking, theft, armed robbery, kidnapping and rape.

Traffic fines were also issued.
