Another senseless murder

"Police tried to collect information from bystanders on scene, but no one was prepared to tell them what had happened."

Kagiso Police have arrested a 49-year-old suspect after he allegedly killed a person and fled the scene a few days prior to his arrest.

Police reported that on Saturday, 9 September, they received a complaint of a murder in Sinqobile and proceeded to the scene of the crime.

They arrived on scene and found paramedics attending to the deceased. They escorted police to the body which was still lying in the street in a pool of blood.

“Police tried to collect information from bystanders on scene, but no one was prepared to tell them what had happened,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.

After a week of struggling to get information, a community member contacted the police to tip them off.

“Police followed information and leads which resulted in the suspect being cornered and apprehended.”

He was arrested on Sunday, 17 September and detained at Kagiso Police Station.

A case docket of murder was reopened and the suspect will appear in court soon.
