Incorrect municipal bills: here’s what you can do

More information on what you can do to sort out your incorrect municipal bills.

Krugersdorp residents have been complaining about incorrect municipal bills for a few months now and they are fed up with the inability of Mogale City Local Municipality to correct them.

Some residents even claim they have gone to the municipality to sort out their bills, but they were either met with inaction or with no one there to help them.

Luckily, a call centre has been established to help verify billing amounts or to report incorrect accounts. The number for the call centre is 0861 664 253.

There is also an email address residents can send their incorrect bills to, namely billingissues123@gmail.com. To report the bill use your meter number as reference.

Other methods you can also use:

• The website Hunter Water has a function where you can enter the details of your monthly water consumption and it calculates how much water you consume in a month: https://www.hunterwater.com.au/Save-Water/Water-Usage-Calculator.aspx

• You can also contact your ward councillor to find out if there are any water leaks in your area that could affect your water bill. Use the DA-Ward councillors’ map to get the number of your councillor by visiting https://www.da.org.za/our-people/ward-councillors-map/

• An independent company, Municipal Complaints, can also help to sort out your municipal bills (for a fee). Go to https://municipalitycomplaints.co.za/how-will-we-be-able-to-help-you/.
