Man’s arm almost amputated when bakkie rolls

His chest was crushed and his ribs were broken.

A man’s arm was almost amputated, his ribs broken and his chest crushed during an accident on the R563 in Hekpoort yesterday afternoon, 20 September.

The bakkie he and another man were travelling in rolled, leaving them both injured. The critically injured patient, a 42-year-old man, appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle. He was intubated by Help24 and loaded into a Netcare 911 helicopter to be transported to hospital.

The other man, who sustained moderate injuries, was loaded into an ambulance and transported to hospital.

Details of the cause of the incident have not yet been released.
