Two trucks stolen from business property

Two of the four suspects have been arrested.

Police arrested two suspects on Sunday, 17 September after they allegedly stole two trucks last month.

On the day of the crime, a security guard was stationed in his guardroom at a business in Kwaggafontein. At about 4am on that day, he heard someone starting a truck and running the engine.

He opened the guardroom door to check what was going on, and four armed suspects suddenly appeared. All four suspects’ faces were covered with balaclavas. They drew firearms and ordered him to co-operate. Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police said the guard was then tied up and locked inside his guardroom.

“[Before locking him up] they searched the complainant and took his cellphone, cash, gate remote, spray gun and guardroom keys. They then drove off in two trucks,” said Sibiya.

The matter was reported to Kagiso Police who launched a manhunt and searched for the suspects. Intelligence-driven investigations led to the successful arrest of the two suspects at Kwaggafontein in KwaNdebele. They have been detained at Kagiso Police Station.

The suspects will appear in court soon facing charges of business robbery. Police investigations will also continue.
