Road of death claims father of four-year-old in head-on collision
Both vehicles involved had extensive damage.
A man was killed and two others were critically injured in a head-on collision on the R24 near the Krugersdorp Game Reserve.
On Friday night, 22 September ER24 paramedics, along with other services found a bakkie and another vehicle in the middle of the road. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
Paramedics discovered a man, a woman and a four-year-old child lying in the light motor vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found the man, lying trapped, had sustained numerous fatal injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.
The woman and child were assessed and found to have sustained multiple injuries, both in a critical condition.

Paramedics carefully extricated the patients and treated them, providing them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, both patients were airlifted to nearby hospitals.
The four-year-old had a broken femur and severe internal injuries. Her mother had severe head, face and internal injuries.
It is understood the driver of the bakkie was also treated for injuries and transported by another service.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
While busy attending to the patients on scene, local police brought a nine-year-old from a nearby squatter camp to the scene who needed urgent medical attention.
She had sustained severe burns to 80 per cent of her body, allegedly caused by a paraffin fire. Netcare 911 and Help24 paramedics attended to the severely injured girl and transported her to hospital.
