The 9th Day sterilised more than 100 animals

"With the absence of the SPCA in the Krugersdorp area, the need for sterilisations is increasing daily."

With the help of the Randfontein State Vet, The 9th Day Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming Centre animal shelter was able to sterilise 70 animals and vaccinate almost 130 against parvo, distemper and rabies in Burgershoop recently.

“In the past year, they’ve managed to sterilize 103 animals and vaccinate about 300 animals,” said Charmaine Booysens, founder of The 9th Day.

“With the absence of the SPCA in the Krugersdorp area, the need for sterilisations is increasing daily, and with limited resources and funding The 9th Day tries to assist in areas like Burgershoop, Krugersdorp West and Munsieville as much as we can.”

They are planning to start an outreach project within the next month or two in the Makhulugama Informal Settlement (close to West Village) as well as in West Village. In order for the them to continue and expand their outreach work, they are asking for the community to please assist. For more information, call Charmaine on 082 924 9337 or send an email to charmaine@the9thday.co.za.
