Hit-and-run incident leaves pedestrian seriously injured

The vehicle that hit the man was not on scene when the paramedics arrived.

During the early hours of Monday, 9 October a pedestrian believed to be in his late thirties sustained serious injuries when he was knocked over in Barrat Road.

According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on scene at approximately 4am and found the man in the street.

Paramedics stabilised him and subsequently rushed him to a nearby hospital for further care. The vehicle that hit the man was not on scene when the paramedics arrived.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known.
