After the heavy rain and hailstorms experienced throughout the West Rand, the Roodepoort SPCA is appealing to pet owners whose pets went missing to visit the SPCA.
“We took in a few strays after the storm, and want pet owners to come in and see if any of these animals belong to them,” said Mandy Cattanach, the manager at the Roodepoort SPCA.

She added that owners need to remember that stray pets are only kept for 96 hours before they are placed for adoption, and certain rules and regulations apply before any pets can be reclaimed. “Owners who reclaim their pets within the 96 hours, need to bring in a photo of the pet, their Identity Document, as well as R80 for the pound fee and R80 for the boarding fee. If they do not claim the pet within the 96 hours, they will have to follow the adoption process, meaning they will be adopting their pet, before taking it home,” she said.

If any of these pets are yours, or if you are looking to adopt a new furry friend, please contact the Roodepoort SPCA on 011 672 0448 or visit them at 3 Nadine Street, Roodepoort.
