The alleged suspect was killed, while the other man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on the scene at 1.10pm to find local authorities already in attendance.
“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a man, believed to have been one of the suspects, lying in front of a security vehicle. Paramedics assessed him and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead,” he said.
A second man, believed to be a security officer was assessed and found to have sustained a gunshot wound to one of his legs. He was treated for his injuries and transported to Lenmed Randfontein for further treatment.
The News has now acquired a video showing how the robbery ensued.

The video shows the suspects wielding guns while entering the camera’s field of view. One suspect appears with a trolley – which is suspected to be full of money and runs to a grey Audi. Although the trolley has wheels, the suspect drags it across the road on its side.
The suspects try to get into the Audi – which is suspected to be the getaway vehicle – but fail because the G4S van charges towards it, almost hitting two of the suspects.
The van chases the Audi until it’s out of sight. The Audi returns to pick up the trolley and bag which are still in the middle of the road. The G4S van driver tries to stop the suspects in the Audi from getting the bag, but those in the Audi start firing shots at the van.
The suspects finally get the bag into their vehicle and speed off.
