5km no challenge for these old ladies!

On Sunday, 8 October, Grace Mochine, 82, Leah Ncube, 85 and Elizabeth Masengemi, 79, put on their big girl pants and taught all the youngsters a lesson.

On Sunday, 8 October three elderly local women put on their big girl pants and taught all the youngsters a lesson when they participated in a popular race at Marks Park Sports Club in Johannesburg.

For these local women, age is just a number, and gender just an illusion. For them, 5 kilometres is nothing, and having fun is everything. These three women, despite their age, recently completed the 5km fun run at the Spar Women’s Race.

They are Grace Mochine, 82, Leah Ncube, 85 and Elizabeth Masengemi, 79, all members of the Mogale Elderly Health and Walk Club.

On this day they most definitely managed to inspire a great many runners around them as they received lots of praise and pats on the back from fellow runners, from start to finish.

“We do runs like this all the time and we also play soccer. We just thank God for blessing us to do these things,” Grace said.

This trio most certainly served to make Munsieville both proud and excited to take on the next challenge.
