Overweight guys turn hiking club into empire
It started out as two overweight guys walking to change their lives.
A humble hiking club which started out as two overweight guys from Krugersdorp walking to change their lives, turned into a club with over 15 000 people following it, in just over a year.
On Sunday, 22 October, members of The Hiking Un-Fit Hiking Club made an appearance at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve and walked for another purpose: to save the lives of huskies.

“The club is for unfit people to be able to get out and enjoy nature without having to feel under pressure to get to the top first.”
Their main purpose is to collect food for animals in distress and donating it to animal shelters.
One of their beneficiaries, Nordic Rescue SA, brought some huskies to the reserve to show the members what they are saving.

“For the first time ever, the Reserve allowed animals inside, and we’re fortunate to have had this opportunity,” said Jon-Jon Pietersen, one of the founders of the hiking club.
