Local pub welcomes well-known artists

A few Krugersdorpers were excited to see some of their favourite artists on-stage at Milkwood Bush Pub's first ever Milkwood Beer Festival.

Recently a few Krugersdorpers were excited to see some of their favourite artists, such as Lianie May, Jay, Dewald Dippenaar, Doringdraad, Leonard Lang and Eunic take to the stage at Milkwood Bush Pub’s first-ever Milkwood Beer Festival

On the cold and windy night of Friday, 27 October this local pub hosted its first ever beer festival with some top-notch live entertainment and some good old-fashioned beer.

“We absolutely love hosting events in aid of charity organisations and as a result of the pub’s popularity among some of the biker clubs, they like to host their fundraising day ‘jols’ here as well,” said Simon Cronjé, one of the pub’s owners.

He went on to explain that this festival was hosted in aid of an organisation in Pretoria that helps the homeless; however, due to poor attendance, they weren’t able to help them this time around.

“We think that the weather might have played a crucial role. Unfortunately, it was an ice-cold winter weather night. But we are still very thankful for those who did support us,” he said.

However, this set-back resulted in an even better comeback. On Friday, 10 November, The Crew West Rand will host a night ‘jol’ at Milkwood Pub in aid of the children from the local Lewende Woord congregation.

Next year, Simon and co-owner, Mike McMenamin aim to host their second beer festival, with local artists Steve and Armand Hofmeyer, Bobby and Karlien van Jaarsveld, Bok van Blerk and Piet Pompies, among others.
