What to do if your car gets stolen:

Your vehicle is probably your most important possession. You probably use it on a daily basis and without it, you will be stuck.

However, vehicles are stolen on a daily basis and before you know it you might be part of the increasing crime statistics in South Africa. Are you afraid that your vehicle might get stolen?

Here are some safety tips you can follow:

• Make sure your number plates are pop-riveted in order for it to not get stolen

• Licence discs must always be up to date and preferably be glued onto the window

• Make sure you DataDot your car

• Take photos of your car – front, back and side

• Always be vigilant while driving or parking

• After parking your car, try more than twice to see if your car is locked

• When followed by a suspicious vehicle, do not go home. Rather drive to a public place or your nearest police station

What to do when your car has been stolen:

• Phone your tracking company immediately

• Give an exact description of your car with marks by which to identify it

• Report it at your nearest police station

Don’t forget: Report any crime in your area at the nearest police station.
