Bongani Mkhonza from Emergency Medical Services’ Gauteng region was on scene. He said it was a head-on-collision and both drivers were injured.

“There were no major casualties, and only two patients were transported to hospital following the incident,” said Bongani.

It is alleged the single-cab pickup truck had two occupants, a father and his daughter. The private vehicle had four occupants. The pickup truck was coming from the road towards the Makiti Wedding Venue, attempting to turn left, when it crashed into the private vehicle on the R563.

An eyewitness – a road maintenance worker – said the pickup truck’s driver, the father, was injured and hospitalised, as was the female driver of the private vehicle.

It is not clear how the accident happened or which of the drivers was at fault.
