Local clinic to extend its services
According to Sister Dineo Kelobonye, facility manager, they would like to prioritise a few challenges in order for the clinic to improve.
The Jan Mare Clinic in Krugersdorp West saw a great many residents gather in the name of good health when the clinic committee hosted its first ever Health Awareness Open Day in aid of informing the community about their services.
According to Sister Dineo Kelobonye, facility manager, they would like to prioritise a few challenges in order for the clinic to improve. A few of these challenges include cleanliness, staff attendance, availability of medication and infection prevention and control, among other things.
“We are focusing on these aspects in order for us to be the ideal clinic for the community. We thought it best to make today’s theme ‘Know your clinic’. We want the people to know about our services,” she said.
She added that the clinic has extended its services to fit the need of the community. Therefore, a qualified dietitian and social worker will be made available.
The clinic committee, which is comprised of ward councillors, ward committee members and youth now aims to make this an annual event with a different theme each year.
Not only was the community informed about the clinic – they were also spoiled with some delicious curry and rice, Tinkies, fruit and cold drinks when DA ward councillors Trudie Naudé and Whitey Moleba as well as Estelle Opperman from Mug and Tree Community Centre paid a visit to the clinic on the morning of Friday, 17 November.
Later that day, clinic chairperson, Thabo Mpe thought it best to commend all those who had helped earlier this year in the spirit of Mandela Day. They handed over certificates to Pierre Martins, Director at Component Africa; Neels Basson, owner of Krugersdorp Paint Centre; Johan Nel from Johan Blinds, and Westcol.
“We wanted to thank them for their hard work and commitment earlier this year. Without them none of this would have been possible,” Thabo said.
