Change of venue for Proof of Residence

Residents of Krugersdorp Ward 38 now have to go to Krugersdorp West for Proof of Residence documents.

Residents of Ward 38 can no longer go to the municipality to obtain proof of their residence – they should acquire these documents at the Mug and Tree Community Care Centre.

The centre, situated on the corner of Naudé and Fishers Streets in Krugersdorp West, is the go-to place for Proof of Residency (POR) documents, where the Ward 38 councillor Trudie Naudé awaits residents who require them. She told the News that when she is not at the centre, Estelle Opperman will be present to assist in handing out POR documents to the Ward 38 members.

“I’m still waiting for the municipality to give me my office. I don’t know when that is likely to happen. My ward consists of Burgershoop, Agavia, Oatlands, Delporton, Wildtuinpark, Quellerie Park, Krugersdorp West (north of Rustenburg Road), and Appel Park,” she said.

Trudie said people who live in Ward 26, which includes Boltonia, need to get their POR documents from Whitey Moleba, their ward councillor. They can call him on 082 265 3568. She also advised residents to Google: ‘who is my councillor’ and enter their residential address, as by doing so they will be informed who the councillor of their ward is.

Trudie also said the reason behind the change the place at which to obtain POR documents from the Centenary Hall is to curb corruption.

“One day I received a call from the Legislature in Johannesburg. They said they had received a letter on a Mogale City letterhead with my signature on it, which belonged to a person who did not reside in my ward. I said I had not signed it, as it was easy for anyone to go to the Centenary Hall, mention the wrong address and get away with a POR. Now I keep records of everyone who comes for a POR,” said Trudie.
