Calling youths qualified in Tourism and Statistics

Unemployed and inexperienced young people stand a chance to be selected for an internship for a year with the Department of Tourism.

An exciting opportunity at the Department of Tourism awaits young unemployed graduates between the ages of 18 and 35.

If you have finished your tertiary education in the Tourism, Statistics or any related field, you can be considered as a Tourism Data Collector.

Applicants should be in possession of a minimum NQF Level five qualification, or a higher qualification, National Diploma or Degree, and they should be South African citizens. The closing date for applications is Monday, 4 December. Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo an interview process, to distinguish between the deserving candidates and the opportunists. The department intends to remain representative in terms of race, gender and disability, through its training opportunities.

The duration of the programme will be 12 months, and interested graduates are required to register their curriculum vitae with the Department of Labour’s database on Employment System of South Africa (Essa) and bear in mind that they have to have an email account to register their CVs on Essa.

Steps to follow during registration process:

• Visit www.labour.gov.za

• Go to online services and click on Employment Service of South Africa

• You will be redirected to Essa online, then click on Register Individual

• Accept the terms and conditions, click submit and then click next

• Fill in your ID number, surname and e-mail address in the text fields

• A new password will be sent to your e-mail address

Note: Login or username is your ID number password generated by the system and includes special characters such as @#$%:* at the beginning of the password.

Successful applicants will receive feedback within one month after the due date, 4 December.
