Residents of Polekego Safety House were were more than thrilled when a few formidable Rotarians presented them with some lovely Christmas gifts.

With the festive season approaching, the Rotary Club of Krugersdorp recently lit up the faces of approximately 80 abused women and children when they paid a visit to a local house of safety.

On Thursday, 23 November the residents of Polekego Safety House were more than thrilled when a few formidable Rotarians, including Dehlia van Staden, current President of the Rotary Club, presented them with some lovely Christmas gifts.

“In the spirit of the festive season we are reaching out to all the abused women and children at this house of safety, because it really is a worthy cause,” she said.

During the event Dehlia and Rotarian Magda Erasmus went out of their way to ensure that each woman and child received a beautifully decorated bag filled with gifts, a tasty home-cooked meal and some refreshments.

According to Dehlia the children were absolutely ecstatic and the mothers grateful. The rest of the day was filled with laughter, tears of joy, as well as a beautiful song of thanks from the women and their children.
