FF Plus very concerned about Mogale’s financial future
According to De Lange it has now become a norm in each council meeting for the ANC under the ruling of the ANC Speaker to get personal with her.
A Mogale City council meeting on Wednesday, 29 November turned ugly when the Freedom Front (FF) Plus took the ANC on about inadequate financial reporting in council.
Councillor Amanda de Lange from the FF Plus in Mogale City questioned the ANC about a ‘half-baked’ report that was presented on a recent ‘business’ trip to China.
“In the ANC’s report they mentioned business deals to the value of a billion dollars being made with Mogale City, without stipulating what kind of businesses were discussed or giving an estimate of the number of residents from Mogale City who will be awarded jobs or how people from China will be employed.
“There were more questions about the trip than the vague information tendered.”
At one point, the arguments got heated and the ANC leaders retaliated by attacking De Lange’s character instead of focusing on the issue under discussion.

“My fight is not with the ANC in person, it is about the way they run the municipality without having to face the consequences. If the ruling party acts out of sorts like they did, I know we are hitting a nerve.”
De Lange said the intended business trip should have been placed before the council with a proper itinerary and scope of business as well as any prospective financial expenditures.
“The council must give the mandate for the municipal delegation to take the trip, and the names of the delegated representatives as well as any other expectations from the trip must be divulged. It also raises questions if a councillor [De Lange] forwards questions about the intended trip to the Speaker and she denies knowing anything about such trip two days prior to the flight.”
De Lange said the general state of the municipality is of great concern as it is clear that the ANC is not as honest and transparent about the financials as is should be.
