Anglican Guild tackles mending of relationships in a Godly way
Those who want to experience vibrant worship led by Amadodana and Bomme ba Evangeli from the Anglican Church should attend services at any Anglican Church in Kagiso that is a member of the AMF&E Guild.
The Anglican Men’s Forum and Evangelism (AMF&E) Guild addressed issues in relationships at their recent conference held at the Kagisong Hall.
The theme of the conference was ‘The Pain of Mending Broken Relationships’. Bishop Stephen Diseko said in his sermon that pain is often caused by our failure to involve God in our problems.

“We want to deal with the problems ourselves. The significance of this conference is that it is only held once every eight years in our Diocese, a district under the pastoral care of a bishop in the Christian Church, as the Church uses a rational rotational system among the member Dioceses.”
Margaret Lekgothoane, Media Liaison Officer, said the Guild is a male and female guild in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, active in five Dioceses (Johannesburg, Kimberley, Kuruman, Matlosana and Highveld). The Guild currently has about 2 000 members, and every year more people want to become part of it. Every second year, there is a provincial conference and this year Johannesburg was lucky to be the host, and brought it to Krugersdorp.
“The conference started on 22 November at Maranatha Conference and Retreat Centre, with only delegates from the different dioceses in the Anglican Community attending the first three days. Their discussions focused on guild matters, mainly the guild’s constitution and how we operate differently in each of the four Dioceses. However, most delegates could not stop talking about how this opportunity is more than just a chance to represent their churches, it is an opportunity for individuals to grow themselves spiritually,” said Margaret.

The Provincial President of their brother guild in the Anglican Church (St Bernard Mizeki Men’s Guild) joined them to deliver the keynote address. Other guest speakers included the Dean of the Johannesburg Diocese, the Very Reverend Xolani Dlwati and Reverend Oliphant who addressed the delegates on evangelism as a means of communication. (Deans of the diocese are referred to as ‘Very Reverend’ to differentiate them from the bishops and other levels and positions in the ordained ministry.)
“The rest of the guild members joined us on 25 November, when everyone was invited to come along. More than 1 200 members joined us for this service,” said Margaret.
The next morning at 5am, the same crowd took to the streets of Krugersdorp for a street revival. Here, members paraded as a guild around Kagisanong Hall, singing, praising and spreading the word of God to the community.
“We had nothing to distribute except the Word of God and our spiritual gifts.”
