Little Citizens with huge hearts

"They were excited to give some of their toys to friends they know need them more."

The Little Citizen Academy in Featherbrooke has only 24 toddlers, but these kids, and their parents, have hearts big enough to ensure that others who are less fortunate have a merry Christmas.

The toddlers and their parents had their annual Christmas gift drive and were able to give more than 100 children from different charities a Christmas gift.

Abraham Kriel Childcare, Pathways (a centre for children with severe disabilities), Logwood Village (a home for the intellectually disabled), and the News’ Christmas baby project (Call of Doody) were all beneficiaries of their great kindheartedness.

“It’s important to us to teach our children to give to others,” said Yvette Maree, the principal of Little Citizen Academy.

“And I must say the children’s response to giving was fantastic. They were excited to give some of their toys to friends they know need them more and some of them truly wanted to give as much as they possibly could.”

Yvette hopes that the school will have more learners next year, and that they too will be willing to give to the less fortunate. For more information about what the school offers or to enter your child into this school, contact the Little Citizen Academy on 061 500 8611.
