St Ursulines are off to the big world

Since the school adopted the IEB curriculum 30 years ago, they have managed to achieve a 100 per cent pass rate each and every year.

On the night of 2 December, approximately 12 130 candidates across South Africa counted down the minutes in anticipation of their long-awaited matric results being released.

When the clock struck midnight most of these candidates, who had written their exams in October and November last year, received satisfying news.

According to the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) the matric pass rate for 2017 adds up to an astonishing 98,76 per cent. This is fractionally up from 98,67 per cent in 2016.

For yet another year St Ursula’s High School contributed positively to the statistics. Since the school adopted the IEB curriculum 30 years ago, its learners have managed to achieve a 100 per cent pass rate each and every year.

This is also their first class of boys to matriculate from the former all-girls school. They are proud to announce that their 38 matriculants have achieved 19 distinctions overall.

“Our first group of boys are on their way into the big world. We would like to thank every staff member who contributed to the success of these learners. Their efforts really paid off,” Chantel Basson, the school’s new deputy principal said.

“To all our matric learners – congratulations on your excellent results, we are very proud of you. We wish you all the best for the future and may you always uphold the true spirit of St Ursula’s.”

St Ursula’s is very proud of last year’s matriculants and congratulates them on their hard work and efforts.
