Be prepared for the new year at varsity

Find ways to make your next academic year easier and more productive.

It’s that time of the year again, when you go back to your tertiary institution, so bear the following tricks in mind to prepare for it.

Just because you are no longer a first-year student, does not mean you have college or varsity all figured out – there are ways you can prepare and make 2018 slightly easier. While you are making this year’s resolutions, remember how you want to change your habits at your institution to make your year more productive.

Trevor Masondo, a fourth-year Political Science student at a Johannesburg university said students should start reading their textbooks before heading back to class.

“I know that when varsity closes for the final semester we tend to put our books aside. But reading your books ahead of the start of the first semester fuels your mind and prepares you for the academic year ahead,” he said.

Student advisor, Angel Smith said students who are returnees have an advantage because they know what they need and how varsity life works, especially those living in residences or hostels.

“Buy all you need before the term starts, buy all the essentials that you know will make your life easier,” said Angel.
