Heatwave to be broken by cooler weather

There will be some relief from the scorching heat in Gauteng.

There will be some relief from the scorching heat that residents of Gauteng have experienced since Saturday, 6 January. Weather South Africa reports on its webpage that the “Heatwave breaks today, 9 January with showers and thundershowers expected over the eastern parts of North West, eastern Free State, Gauteng, KZN, Limpopo and Mpumalanga and a drop in temperature”.

The announcement came with a warning of severe thunderstorms forecast over parts of the Harry Gwala, uMgungundlovu, uThukela, Amajuba, uMzinyathi and Zululand districts with possible strong winds and hail today.

This Weather Service showed a temperature of 37°C in Gauteng yesterday with Krugersdorp reaching a high of 35°C. They expect the temperature to drop to 24°C on Wednesday, 10 January and 23°C on Thursday, 11 January.
