Summer Heat on the search for talent
Soon they will be on the West Rand as part of their ninth annual Summer Heat Model & Talent Search national audition roadshow.
If you have a passion for the performing arts and a desire to showcase your talents, remember to mark your diary for Saturday, 27 January as Summer Heat Model and Talent Search is calling on all singers, actors, dancers and models.
Summer Heat is a well-established internationally recognised brand that is searching for the most promising talent across the country. Soon they will be on the West Rand as part of their ninth annual Summer Heat Model & Talent Search national audition roadshow.

This year, auditions will kick off in Krugersdorp, which is home to four previous national titleholders. This includes Summer Heat Junior Model of the Year 2013 – Mila Loubser; Summer Heat Male Model of the Year 2015 – Dylan van Wyk; Summer Heat Junior Model of the Year 2016 – Karli Liebenberg and Summer Heat Junior Dancer of the Year 2017 – Handri van Tonder.
At each audition, approved contestants will be encouraged to take part in as many of the categories available as possible. They will first attend a highly informative workshop and have the opportunity to participate in a photo shoot before performing for the selection panel in the hopes of securing that sought-after invitation to the prestigious national awards event at the end of the year.
Apart from the opportunity of being selected for the Summer Heat National Awards Weekend, Summer Heat is also the perfect launching pad to kick-start a supportive network in the performing arts industry. It has even been lauded as the safest platform in South Africa from which to launch a national and international career.

Each contestant selected at a regional audition as a finalist for Summer Heat Model & Talent Search is invited to attend a five-day workshop to participate in the national annual awards event where they will meet up with and work with contestants from across the country. During this time, finalists will gain vital workplace information through various workshops, photo shoots and fun team building exercises that allow contestants to become part of the supportive Summer Heat family.
“We are extremely excited to see the talent that South Africa has to offer at the ninth annual Summer Heat Model & Talent Search auditions,” said Gillian Habib, founder and Managing Director of Summer Heat.
“Each year the talent blows us away and we are certain that this year will be no different. We can’t wait to add more people to our ever-expanding Summer Heat family.”
Apart from providing the opportunity for models, singers, actors and dancers to reveal their talents to the nation, Summer Heat Model & Talent Search gives competitors the opportunity to make it on the local and international stage. At the Summer Heat National Awards, scouts for the GoTalent! Performing Arts Talent Showcase will be present to assess the contestants for invitation to perform at their showcase – for potential selection to represent South Africa at iPOP in Los Angeles

Gillian loves boasting about her Summer Heat family, many of whom have carved out careers within the performance industry or found success – both locally and internationally – in the music, television and film industries.
“We have opened so many doors for our talented youngsters who are already following their dreams,” she said.
“Summer Heat family members have released their own CDs; received scholarships for major international schools; appeared on television, in films and music videos both locally and internationally; and have featured on billboards and in magazines.”
Another member from Cape Town managed to land a feature role in a major movie starring Ethan Hunt. Loads of other Summer Heat models have walked the runway at SA Fashion Week, and some have also been seen at New York Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and appeared on international F-TV.
Last year, a previous titleholder, who now lives and works as a TV presenter in Los Angeles, was seen interviewing celebrities on the Red Carpet at the Golden Globe awards afterparty; and another, who lives in Hollywood has had a movie that she wrote, directed and acted in, submitted for various international film festivals.
Summer Heat calls the most passionate, talented and promising contestants to apply – singers; actors; dancers; male, female and curvy models; groups or duets of all ages are encouraged to send in an application to join the #SummerHeatFamily. There are no age limitations for any of the singing, dancing or acting categories and there is no height or other restrictions for models either.
Auditions are by appointment only. Emerging models, singers, dancers and actors can apply for the auditions by sending an email to info@summerheat.co.za.
