Come taste the world’s largest popcorn doughnut
This is a charity event hoping to make it into the Guiness Book of World Records!
On Friday, 19 January, come to Montecasino to celebrate World Popcorn Day and to taste a slice of the world’s largest popcorn doughnut. Emilio Alexander from Emilio’s Gourmet Popcorn shop at Montecasino will be making the doughnut from flavoured popcorn. It will measure 1,5 metres in diameter.
Emilio hopes to make it into this year’s Guinness Book of Records.
Pieces of the doughnut will be sold to the public and the funds raised go to charity. Last year, Emilio managed to supply over 200 pencil cases to school children from Afika Tikkun in Diepsloot.
This year, AGT Foods has joined the charity initiative and will be supplying Emilio with 50kg of popcorn kernels and a donation of R5 000 towards the project.
The doughnut will be on display and available for sale during the weekend starting on Friday, 19 January.
