Roodepoort SPCA needs Krugersdorp’s help
In mid-2017, the Roodepoort SPCA formally committed to taking over and servicing the Krugersdorp area.
When the Johannesburg SPCA took full responsibility for the Krugersdorp area in terms of finance and operations, it seemed like a small ray of hope for the organisation.
Then in early 2015, the Johannesburg SPCA withdrew its support.
In mid-2017, the Roodepoort SPCA formally committed to taking over and servicing the Krugersdorp area, out of concern for the welfare of animals. As a result, the admission of animals has doubled, with over 600 animals being taken in during the 2017 festive season.
The SPCA does far more than just rescuing and re-homing animals. A qualified inspector with magisterial authorisation has the powers of a police officer in terms of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962, which includes the power of arrest and the power to seize animals in terms of this Act.
The Roodepoort SPCA is committed to using all the resources at their disposal, especially education, to prevent cruelty to animals, to protect them and to promote their welfare.
However, they need the support and assistance of the community to make this commitment viable and sustainable. Consequently, they are now pleading with the Krugersdorp community, its individuals and businesses, for support.
The good news is that all donations to the Roodepoort SPCA qualify for tax relief, proved that a Section 18A certificate has been requested and received.
The SPCA’s banking details are:
Standard Bank Florida
Branch code 015641
Current account number 021 145 571
Send proof of electronic funds transfer (EFT) deposits to admin@rdptspca.co.za or fax 011 672 2918 and ask for a Section 18A certificate, which must be attached to your tax return, to be issued to you.
