Girl drowns after falling into storm drain

The water current led the mother and paramedics to a small stream several metres away from the scene.

Yesterday afternoon (29 January), a four-year-old girl drowned after falling into a stormwater drain along Utlhanong Street in Kagiso. This is as the result of the heavy rainfall experienced in Krugersdorp.

When paramedics arrived on scene shortly after 4pm, they were informed that the little girl was walking with her mother when she fell into the drain. According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, it is believed that she was swept further down the drain shortly after her fall.
