Makroti starts an artist management company

KAM was established in 2016, and has more than 50 members under its wing.

Despite all its glitz and allure, the entertainment industry is not for the faint-hearted: it’s a dog eat dog world. It has destroyed and swallowed many. By the same token, it has made many stars and celebrities. To survive in this industry, you need a strong character.

Mzikayise Makroti (in collaboration with Nomakhosi Matamela) has established an organisation named Kagiso Artist Management (KAM). KAM manages artists: i.e. actors, voice artists, singers and so on. It’s probably the first of its kind on the West Rand.

Mzikayise has been in the entertainment industry for a long time. He is a product of Kasi theatre. He has also starred in various television dramas and soapies such as Generations, Lock Out, Rhythm City and the popular youth drama Skeem Saam, so he brings a wealth of experience to the organisation.

KAM was established in 2016, and has more than 50 members under its wing. Some of its members have acted in various television dramas and soapies as extras. The organisation is yet to produce top artists but they are steadily working towards that, and believe they will get lucky break soon.

The organisation is still young but growing. It is slowly but surely leaving its footprint in Mogale City. It has conducted workshops for budding artists and musicians to prepare them for the tough industry. It is also planning to conduct many workshops in future.

KAM is based in Kagiso, and currently manages artists throughout Gauteng. However, membership is open to all South African artists, with no age restrictions.
