KHS and Monument Primary help to collect water

"Giving is an integral part of what we want to teach our children, and what better way than to ask them to donate water."

No blue, no green … no water, no life. This is the reality that Western Cape residents face and although Day Zero – the day Cape Town’s taps will run dry – was moved forward from April to May, the province is still in dire need of help from other provinces.

Krugersdorp High School (KHS) and Monument Primary School are helping as much as they possibly can by collecting water and donating it to Gift of the Givers to distribute as needed.

The schools asked their learners to bring either a 2-litre or 5-litre bottle of water to school and within two days their joint efforts secured 5 000 litres of drinkable water.

“Giving is an integral part of what we want to teach our children, and what better way than to ask them to donate water,” said Lauren Jooste-Coetsee, spokesperson for KHS.

And the school is not done yet. Anyone wishing to donate water and therefore life to those suffering can still do so at the school or any of the other drop-off points in Krugersdorp:
