Help the Tower of Life women live better lives
Two events are being hosted to help the shelter with their needs.
In September 2017, the women at the Tower of Life shelter were moved out of the existing shelter, and for a while the management of the shelter sought a place for them to stay.
Then a miracle happened – they found a place in Burger Street that the women could move into.
These women have seen tremendous difficulty in their lives – some of them are recovering drug addicts, some lived as prostitutes, and some had children they could not take care of.
They are safe now, but with every non-government organisation comes extreme financial restrains – the women need food, the rent needs to be paid and then there are the many unpaid bills.
This is why a group of friends have decided to host two events for the shelter to ensure that they are financially cared for.
On the cards for the shelter is a St Patrick’s Day Charity Bash and a Celtic Blue music evening. Those who attend will be thoroughly entertained, and they can enjoy scrumptious meals too – knowing their money will go to a good cause.
Some of the proceeds will also be given to Shalom Respite Care Centre.
Here are the details of the two events:
• The St Patrick’s Day Charity Bash will take place on Saturday 17 March. There will be live Irish music from 7pm until late. Costs are R199 per person which includes a buffet dinner. The bash will take place at the Ruimsig Country Club and corporate tables are available to purchase. For tickets, contact Monica Culhane on 072 374 3321 or send an email to monica.culhane@gmail.com.
• The Celtic Blue music evening will take place on Friday 23 March at the AFM Church in Libertas Street, Noordheuwel. Lots of Irish, contemporary and golden oldie music will be played. The event starts at 7pm and tickets are R100 per person.
