Much-needed donations received by Claw

‘We can’t wait to put the gifts to good use in our clinic’

The Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw) was recently spoilt when they received some much needed items from Key West Shopping Centre.

“The items donated to Claw, varied from shampoo and cat litter, to food bowls and collars. Some of these items will be utilised by Claw for the animals housed on site, still waiting for their forever home, whilst the other items will be auctioned off on the Saint’s online Facebook pages. These auctions will funds, which will, in turn, will allow the organisation to buy much needed food and perform various veterinary procedures,” said Maxine Oberholzer, Key West’s marketing manager.

Claw is entirely dependent on donations, as they do not receive any Government or International funding and they run a program that brings new hope to

impoverished communities where traditional veterinary services are often unavailable. “Claw, who is run by volunteers, provides desperately needed veterinary services to dogs and cats, as well as vital animal care education to pet owners in some of Johannesburg’s poorest township areas,” Maxine added.

Claw’s Taren Welthagen was overwhelmed by the shopping centre’s kindness and said, “We are thrilled with the wonderful donation we have received, all of the items are useful and needed. It feels a little like Christmas again and we had great fun unpacking our treasures. We can’t wait to put the gifts to use in our clinic.”
