Paramedic among those injured on N14 accident scene
During investigation, one of QRS medics heard a loud screeching sound, followed by a crash.
Yesterday morning, 25 February, about 15 people sustained minor to moderate injuries after a taxi and a light motor vehicle with a trailer collided on the N14, behind the Krugersdorp Game Reserve.
ER24 and other paramedics were called to the scene at about 11.10am. They found most of the taxi’s passengers outside the vehicle.

According to ER24 spokesperson, Annine Siddall, seven of the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care. Eight patients were treated and transported to hospital by other emergency services on scene.
However, during investigation, one of QRS medics, heard a loud screeching sound, followed by a crash. He soon discovered that this was the result of a Hyundai Getz crashing into the side of the ambulance which remained stationed on scene, causing it to flip onto its side.

According to QRS, the collision and resultant movement of the vehicles caused the ambulance to strike the daughter of a patient. One of the injured patients sustained further injuries and the medic was also hurt as a result. Luckily no serious injuries were sustained.
“We would like to extend many thanks to everyone who assisted on scene, especially to those who assisted in ensuring the safety of our crew members,” she said.
QRS urged road users to be vigilant on the roads when approaching accidents and to adhere to the rules of the road and follow instructions given by on-scene traffic officials.

They would like to remind road users to be aware of any medics and officials that might be walking around on scene, helping any injured patients.
