Another cyclist hit – Vootrekker Road

it is alleged that a bakkie and a light motor vehicle were driving at high speed when the bakkie hit a cyclist.

Shortly after 7pm last night, 12 March, Netcare 911 responded to an accident on Voortrekker Road in Monument.

Upon arrival, Netcare 911 and another emergency service attended to two male patients – a 45-year-old cyclist and a 23-year-old light motor vehicle (bakkie) driver.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Tebogo Magoro, the bakkie and a second light motor vehicle were allegedly driving at high speed when the bakkie hit a cyclist, and the other vehicle drove off.

The bakkie driver did not see the cyclist before colliding with him, but in an attempt to avoid the cyclist, the driver swerved and crashed into a nearby tree.

Both patients were transported to hospital for further treatment.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
