Krugersdorp cop allegedly brutally assaults girlfriend

According to the Democratic Alliance, it's not the first time he has done this.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on the Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General De Lange, to investigate an incident of assault during which a Krugersdorp police officer allegedly violently assaulted his girlfriend in their home in Protea Glen.

The incident came to light following a Twitter post that chronicled the alleged attack. The assault reportedly took place on Tuesday, 20 March, following which the officer allegedly locked his girlfriend in their house.

His girlfriend claimed that this was not the first time he had attacked her.

“Each time the woman attempts to end the abusive relationship, she is answered with threats of violence. In a prior incident, she was reportedly taken to a deserted field, where her life was again threatened,” said Kate Lorrimer, DA Shadow MEC for Community Safety.

“I have written to the Commissioner to request an urgent investigation into the incident.”

The News has approached the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for urgent comment and is awaiting their feedback on the matter.
