15 escape death after horrific taxi crash
Three patients, one of whom later died on scene, had sustained critical injuries.

One person died and 15 others were injured on the morning of 10 April, in a collision at the intersection of the N14 and R563 in Oaktree, near the Cradle of Humankind.
ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene to find a truck near the intersection and a wrecked taxi on the side of the road.
Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, reports that the occupants had already been extricated from the taxi and were found lying around the vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that three had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. The remaining 12 patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries,” said Meiring.
The patients were treated for their injuries, and the three critically injured provided with advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, after a short time, one of the critically injured patients succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
