Woman arrested for kicking police officer in the groin

The woman refused to give her witness statement about a rape that occurred last year.

A woman was arrested and charged with defeating the ends of justice after she had kicked a police officer in the groin.

Kagiso Police were trying to get statements from two siblings aged 18 and 27 respectively on Monday morning 16 April in central Kagiso.

The police were investigating claims of a rape committed in December last year. They were allegedly witnesses in the case.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for Kagiso Police said upon arrival at the siblings’ residence, the two refused to give statements and an argument allegedly ensued between them and the police officers.

“The police tried to warn them that their actions constituted defeating the ends of justice, but they continued to refuse. Police informed them that they would be arrested immediately if they did not cooperate.

The 27-year-old kept resisting and allegedly attacked and kicked a police official below belt,” said Sibiya.

The two suspects were eventually overpowered and put under arrest. They were later detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of defeating the ends of justice was opened against them.

The siblings are expected to appear in court soon.
