Krugersdorp North house of horrors to get a serious fright?
The property has deteriorated into an obscene, squalid rubbish-dump.
The toxic impact the ‘house of horrors’ situated at 49 Blommenstein Street in Krugersdorp North has on the surrounding community is now being approached head-on by ward councillor, Lynn Zwankhuisen.
She has compiled an 18-point negative issue list and interacted with all the relevant authorities in a bid to resolve the chronic social evil which this state-owned property is creating in her ward.
Lynn is convinced that a solution can only be reached by approaching the problem collectively and in a non-political manner and by allowing the community to express their fears and concerns.

Her efforts culminated in a public meeting with the Executive Mayor of Mogale City, Naga Patrick Lipudi on 26 April in the Municipal Banqueting Hall, where homeowners had the opportunity to voice their grave concerns. They and the current residents of the property are affected by appalling conditions on a daily basis, with sewage and waste water flooding the grounds. Surrounding property values are declining as a result of the total neglect of this State-owned property.
49 Blommenstein Street has, on account of the lack of provincial control and supervision, deteriorated into an obscene, squalid rubbish-dump which contravenes municipal by-laws and promotes crime and toxic health conditions within a residential area.
The Mayor stated in the meeting that Mogale City was trying to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) with the provincial government to act as a temporary custodian of the property so that the prevailing conditions can be brought under control.
