New political party, Born Free Alliance, gearing towards social democracy
The party was formed by former EFF councillors.
Former Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) members launched a new political party, the Born Free Alliance (BFA), in Kagiso recently.
The party, which claims to represent young people across the country, was officially launched at the Chief Mogale Community Hall. The president of the party, General Thekiso, said his newly formed party will take on the established organisations, and he is confident they will make inroads in both the upcoming general and local government elections.

Thekiso said his party is joining the political fray with a view to correcting the mistakes that have been made by the current political parties. He said education, skills development and youth employment are key to his manifesto.
Despite several key positions within the party being held by former EFF Mogale City councillors who were expelled by the EFF’s national central command team for voting with the ANC, Thekiso dismissed the notion that BFA is a breakaway from the EFF.
The former EFF councillors include Nomonde Nkatu, Lemogang Modisane, Eric Baloyi, Edward Motsitsi and Smanga Mkhumbeni.
The party’s ideology is geared towards social democracy.
