Organisations needs your help more than ever

"We aim to cultivate a generation of environmental conservationists while benefiting various wildlife projects and initiatives."

The People for Wildlife organisation needs the help of the community more than ever.

The organisation is a non-governmental, membership-based group, promoting model supervision of wildlife and natural resources to ensure a healthy, pleasing environment in which humans can sustain quality lifestyles that remain in harmony with nature.

Their mission is to make a meaningful difference to the conservation of the environment through the implementation of effective programmes and action.

This is why this organisation manages several projects and hosts frequent fundraising events, with the aim of benefiting the environment and its resources.

According to spokesperson, Gerrie Schoeman, they are currently involved in several projects, including their biggest to date – Vulpro. Vulpro rescues injured and poisoned vultures and rehabilitates them for release back into their natural habitats. These vultures are then monitored and tracked to ensure their survival.

Apart from several other fundraising events, they plan to establish an adventurous fundraising programme called REAP (Responsible Environmental Awareness Programme) later this year.

This programme will consist of a series of monthly weekend camping trips during which members will be taught about orientation, bush safety, mammals and every other aspect of nature, among other things.

“We aim to cultivate a generation of environmental conservationists while benefiting various wildlife projects and initiatives,” Gerrie said. “We also want to host monthly public awareness talks and outings. As these programmes are family orientated, we are trying to engage the younger generation as well.”
