[BREAKING NEWS] Shootout between suspects and police on Voortrekker Road
Emergency services are treating wounded suspects.
A hijacking earlier today, 27 June, turned into a shootout between police and suspects on Voortrekker Road in the Witpoortjie area.
It is not clear where the hijacking attempt took place, but information given to the News suggests that the shooting happened near the Trezona Avenue and Albertina Sisulu Road (Main Reef Road) intersection.

The suspects had allegedly hijacked a vehicle in the Zandspruit area and police pursued them to an open field near the train tracks along Cilliers Street, where they shot two of them.
Emergency services are treating the suspects. The scene has been closed off to the public.
The police have been contacted for comment and more information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
