Free pancakes for your bag of old clothes

If you donate any item to Hope for the Future, you'll get freshly baked pancakes for free.

Hope for the Future, a local charity, is celebrating its third birthday this year and wants to give back to the community which has supported the organisation for so long.

They’re going to hold a ‘pancakes for donations’ drive on Saturday, 30 June at 20 Heading Street in Wentworth Park. Madre Botha and Yolandi Coetzee Pestana are the masterminds behind the notion.

How it will work is simple: When people donate any item to Hope for the Future on that day, Madre and Yolandi will give the donor a number of pancakes in accordance with how much they’ve donated. For example, if you bring a bag of clothes, they’ll give you three or four pancakes. They’re going to have a few women who will be baking fresh pancakes on the day and as people bring in their donations, so they’ll be given some of the freshly baked pancakes.

They’re trying to focus on getting blankets and food, but any item donated will be appreciated.

There will also be a clown who will entertain the little ones that accompany their parents to the donation drive.

The donation drive will be open from 9am until 2pm, but if you arrive later than that, you’ll still be helped.
