Woman dies after being shot in Nooitgedacht house robbery

It is alleged that the husband was in the bathroom, and that the two suspects forced the wife into the bathroom with him.

Last night (Tuesday, 3 July) just after 8.15pm, Drift Reaction received several panic signals from a property on Copperhouse Road in Nooitgedacht.

While Tactical Units were on their way, they received a phonecall from a client alleging that she had heard shots coming from a cottage on the premises.

Upon arrival, the Tactical Unit found the client and two victims, a husband and wife, inside the cottage. According to the victims, two armed and extremely aggressive men had forced the door of their residence.

It is alleged that the husband was in the bathroom at that stage, and that the two suspects forced the wife into the bathroom with him. The suspects subsequently demanded cash from the victims, which they didn’t have.

It is further alleged that the suspects then opened fire and shot the 26-year-old female victim twice in the upper body. According to the husband, three shots were fired in total.

Drift Reaction’s control centre subsequently dispatched local police and ER24 paramedics to the scene. However, the husband insisted on taking his wife to the hospital. When they got to the main road, the wife was stabilised by paramedics and rushed to hospital.

In the meantime, the suspects fled with two cellphones.

It was later made known that the wife had succumbed to her injuries early on Wednesday, 4 July.
