Sama spoils disabled learners

They took 15 children from the Rant-en-Dal School for Autism on a trip to the local Spur.

The South African Medical Association (Sama)’s West Rand branch recently paid a visit to Krugersdorp.

As the branch runs various corporate social investment projects within the region, they thought it would be a good idea to involve the disadvantaged learners from the Rant-en-Dal School for Autism’s hostel. So, in June, they took 15 children from the hostel on a trip to the Spur at Key West Shopping Centre.

They realised the school relies on involvement and donations from the community to help make it a happier and safer place for all its learners, and are proud to have been a part of the project. They would also like to thank Key West Spur, as they were able to assist in arranging a fun evening out for all the hostel children and their assistants.

Sama has also identified an increasing need for various necessities for the Cerebral Palsy children, toddlers and babies undergoing treatment in Leratong Hospital’s Paediatric Ward and Outpatients’ Department. They suggest that all residents clean out their garages and storage areas of any old car seats, feeding chairs, toys, colouring books and crayons, among other things. These items, which must be in good working condition, will then be donated via Sama to the hospital’s children’s wards.

The drop-off point for donations is the Sama West Rand office, located at 272 Voortrekker Road in Monument. Drop-off times are Monday to Friday from 8am until 5pm. Collection of donations can also be arranged.
