Children paint Madiba Day with all the colours of the rainbow
This fun day was aimed at providing 75 underprivileged children from the Krugersdorp West, Burgershoop and Quellerie Park areas with an exciting day they'll never forget.
The legacy left by the father of the rainbow nation, Nelson Mandela, was recently celebrated with a vivid wonderland filled with bright balloons, jumping castles, ice cream, face painting and candy floss.
This fun day was aimed at providing 75 underprivileged children from the Krugersdorp West, Burgershoop and Quellerie Park areas with an exciting day they’ll never forget.

The celebration was held on Wednesday, 11 July at Rain Forest Boutique Camp and soon saw beautiful butterflies, brave superheroes and even a few princesses dancing and prancing around the jumping castle with some scrumptious treats in their hands.
Everything was made possible by the Cebo Siloam Foundation (a non-profit organisation aimed at helping orphaned, poor, exploited and disabled children, in particular those living in rural and poor, under-developed communities) and Monsanto Company, which sponsored all the goods and activities.

According to the organiser, Estelle Barnett from Cebo Siloam, this is their second annual celebration of Mandela Day with underprivileged children from relatively poor areas.
Since the foundation has also established a college aimed at skills training, its greater goal is to improve the lives of underprivileged children from a young age.

“We want to take children from a young age and go on a journey with them. Upon finishing school, we want to offer them a safe haven – the college – to improve their lives and circumstances. This way they can go back into their communities and change more lives,” Estelle explained.
The event, which even included a fun magic show, was also attended by Mrs Africa, Adéle Wotherspoon, who enjoyed getting to know a few of the children.

“We would most definitely like to do this every year. These children deserve a day off to just be children. We are thrilled to say that they enjoyed the occasion greatly,” Estelle concluded.
