Curro learners serve hot soup to taxi commuters on Mandela Day

This taught the learners about kindness and giving without needing to receive something in return.

Curro Krugersdorp High School decided to celebrate Mandela Day by providing the people waiting for their taxis at the Total Garage on Robert Broom Drive, Noordheuwel with cups of hot soup.

Three learners handed out 125 steaming cups of soup between them.

Two large urns were set up in the garage parking lot and from 4pm to 5pm the learners walked to the people, who were not very keen to give up their spots in the queue and handed out the soup. The people enjoyed the soup immensely on this cold afternoon, many asking for more.

Not only did the kind deed teach the learners to reach out to their fellow people, it also taught them the value of kindness. Many of the people were excited about this act of kindness and delighted by the passion of the girls handing out the soup.
