Sunday, 21 July was a day filled with grief, sorrow and heartbreak when family and friends had to say goodbye to Peta-Ann Barrett, who was taken too soon.

The suspects then forced Peta-Ann into the bathroom where her brother was at the time. The suspects subsequently demanded cash which they didn’t have. It is further alleged that the suspects then opened fire and shot her twice in the upper body. She couldn’t be saved and died the next day, Wednesday, 4 July.
According to her mother, Audrey Barrett, Peta-Ann had been extremely protective of Marko ever since he was adopted at the age of 13.
The memorial service was held at the Monchique Guest House in Muldersdrift and was conducted by Reverend Dr Allan Dyssel. During the service, Peta-Ann was described as a people’s person who loved people and animals.
