[WATCH] Community ignores call to attend Homeless Imbizo
However, that didn't stop the Tower of Life shelter from having some fun.
It was a sad day at Tower of Life after their invitation to the public to join their Homeless Imbizo was ignored by practically everyone in Krugersdorp.
However, those who were at the shelter, including the homeless, did not let that stop them from having a little fun.
“Although the Homeless Imbizo was virtually ignored by the community at large, we are thankful for the churches, businesses and individuals who do support the Tower of Life shelter on a regular basis. Without their support, the shelter, which receives zero support from government, would have closed down six years ago. Thank you,” said Gert Jonker.
He also expressed his thanks to the the boys from the Ikusasa Child and Youth Care Centre who came to the Tower of Life shelter that night to encourage the residents with music and a message from Genesis.
Although this Imbizo was not a success, the staff at Tower of Life aim to host another one next year and will try to make it an annual event in the future.
